September Devlog

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to another devlog. I hope you’re all safe and healthy wherever you are!

This month was a mix of writing, some asset-creation, and some "house cleaning." I’ve focused on writing the next part of CH04, plus a few more things that I really needed to do for Ursa (my one-woman dev company). Among them, after almost a year, I finally finished the new version of my site (www.ligianunes.com) and updated my profile/game pages on itch.io (https://ligianunes.itch.io/ and ltgbtk) to match. Let me know if you like them! Haha :)

Apart from writing, I’ve worked on quite a few new assets for LtGBtK, but the most significant changes you’ll all notice in the next builds are:

  •  the three crown variations for Mathias. As you might remember from CH02, a monarch’s living crown changes depending on their intentions/view of what their reign should be. With the witnessing (the moment the crown finally changes to represent that monarch), the Blooming is finally complete. >8)
  • two new BGs
  • I began working on a special CG and its variations
  • some behind-the-scenes work, like cleaning my code and improving some of my variables. I’ve also changed a few variables in the extra story, mainly in Mandra’s scene. My main goal is to better represent your MC’s choices in that scene in preparation for the next game in the series. I’ve been studying ways to carry your choices from one game to another, and now that I finally know how to do that, I’m going to slowly adapt/prepare my code for that, yay!

Apart from all that, I also wrote a new short story for ko-fi:

  • (short story) “I was once a castle in summer” was such a joy to write. This one shows a short moment of LtGBtK’s beach episode XD I fully intend to continue expanding this moment, cause I CANNOT resist a good medieval ghost story, and I really didn't have the chance to tackle the Sand Manor in this one. Hopefully in the next one, right? ;) ♥ link here - “Since your Dragon Commander joined the Academia in 8:34, they've been allowed to spend only two weeks off every year. In 8:36, they spent one of these weeks in the infamous Sand Manor in Opala, a place surrounded by mystery and dangers. And a place where, despite all that, they could find a brief respite from a reality that is worse than any ghost story could ever be.”

And that’s basically it. I'll leave my struggles out of this one cause they feel a touch too sad for a devlog, but I promise everything's all right! ^^

BTW, if you haven't seen it already, I’m running a giveaway of keys for all of my games, including TDW (which won’t be released until December). I prepared a short survey to understand you all better + make sure I’m following the right path with my indie games. To thank you for answering the survey, you can comment in the post for a chance to win a pack of 3 game keys!

You can read more about the survey and the giveaway in this link here. There’s still time if you want to participate—but even if you don’t, know that I’m super thankful for your support. Thank you for playing my games and reading my posts. ♥

I hope my games can be a place of comfort, adventure, and entertainment for you all. I hope they can help you recharge your batteries and face the world, knowing you'll always have these characters and worlds waiting for you, whenever you need them. ♥♥♥ Take care, all right? ;))

Big hugs, and until next time.
